I'm giving mini lessons
Using Internet Explorer

Scroll this window with the
up and down arrow keys.
Click in the green window and it scrolls.
Click in the gold window and it scrolls.
These lessons are about HTML.
Hyper Text Markup Language.
We write this language in Notepad
Do you see the View Menu up at
The top of this page?
To look at some HTML
Click on View then Click on Source
Page up and page down keys work as do up and down arrow keys.
To exit the view of the source code
Click on the X in the upper right corner of the smaller Notepad window
Try it now and notice the tags. I am going to explain about tags after you look at them. Tags look like this
<HTML> <HEAD> </HEAD> <BODY> </BODY> </HTML>
OK, now I am going to show you how to use tags. We are going to make a web page right here on your computer. Click on View. Click on Source. Scroll to the very end of the Source code where you will find
a <!-- character. Below that there will some HTML followed by a --> character. Select the HTML between those two characters, but not the characters by running the cursor over it while holding down the left mouse button. This hi-lites the HTML. Release the left mouse button, and, while the HTML is still hi-lited press the C key while holding down the ctrl key. This copies the HTML to the clipboard in your computer. Next close all windows by click on the X in the upper right hand corner of all windows until you are back on the desk top. Then click on start, click on programs, click on accessories, click on Notepad, Click on Edit, Click on Paste. Presto all that HTML is now in your Notepad. You should be looking at it. Click on File, Click on SAVE AS. Put My Documents in the where to save box. Put Mywebpage.html in the filename box. Choose text file for the file type box and press the save button.
You don't have to read all this scrolling material unless you want to. All the links are available at any time.
Welcome to my web page.
To turn off music click the square on the top line. Click the triangle to restart music. The links to other places are below the music description. Let me tell you about some of those links. Steve's page is there because I admire it. He really went all out to find useful things on the internet. The winter link is about a neat place in Florida where I go every year. The Tashua Seniors link is about a golf club I belong to. I'm the historian so there are tournament results there. You can get the handicap index of every golfer in America who has a ghin card and see the last 20 scores if you click on the name. Click on Flag. It's about my Miltary Service The actuary link will give you some idea what actuaries are up to. Thank you for visiting my page. My email address is jchurch10002@msn.com.
Stop or start music--> Square stops music. Triangle starts it. <bgsound src="overture.mid" loop=infinite> The background music (MIDI file) is one I'm sure you recognize.
